Email | VCardRobert Kornfeld has been responsible for historic preservation, exterior envelope restoration, historical and technical research, forensic investigation and litigation services. He manages projects that combine innovative technology with traditional building methods. Some of his most notable projects in New York City include the façade restoration of 90 Church Street; structural and façade restoration of the American Express Tower at Three World Financial Center; and immediate damage assessment of the World Trade Center disaster site. In Philadelphia he oversaw exterior restoration of the James A. Byrne Courthouse and William J. Green, Jr. Federal Building, which received the 2002 bronze medal from the Federal Executive Board in recognition of outstanding public service. Bob was awarded the certificate of appreciation from the New York City Department of Design and Construction for structural engineering services during the World Trade Center rescue and recovery operation.
Bob is a registered architect in New York and New Jersey. He is active in a number of historic preservation groups including the Historic Districts Council in New York City, the preservation committee of the Jerome Park Conservancy, and the Friends of the Old Croton Aqueduct. He holds a bachelor’s degree from Columbia College and a master’s degree in architecture from the Columbia University Graduate School of Architecture, Planning and Preservation.
