GARY F. PANARIELLO, Ph.D., P.E., S.E.

Gary Panariello is a member of the Thornton Tomasetti board of directors and leader of our Building Performance practice. A recognized leader in forensic engineering, he has more than 20 years of experience in the research, design, investigation and construction of complex structures of all types. His specialties include the dynamics of structures subjected to earthquakes, hurricanes and other natural and man-made events, structural failure investigations, advanced analysis and emergency response. Gary has been involved in many projects involving the determination of blast loads, possible structure hardening schemes and progressive collapse studies for several high-rise and special-use buildings.

He holds a bachelor’s degree in physics and astronomy from The Johns Hopkins University, and M.S., M.Phil and Ph.D. degrees in civil engineering and engineering mechanics from Columbia University.
