Senior Principal

Bruce Gibbons is a member of the Thornton Tomasetti board of directors and serves as manager for the firm’s U.S. Western region. Bruce joined the firm in 2004 to found our Los Angeles office, and has more than 25 years of experience in the design, specification and construction of a wide variety of structures in the US and overseas. His expertise in complex and expressive structures spans all market sectors including sports facilities, transit centers, airports, performing arts centers, museums, commercial buildings and educational facilities. Key projects include the new Transbay Transit Center in San Francisco; the Paul Brown Stadium for the Cincinnati Bengals and the San Francisco Federal Building.

He holds a bachelor’s degree in civil and structural engineering from the University of Sheffield and a master’s degree in concrete structures from Imperial College of Science & Technology, London. He is a licensed structural engineer in California, and a Chartered Structural Engineer in the United Kingdom.
