Les Postawa, IEng., A.M.IStructE

Principal

Mr. Les Postawa is a founding co-director of the Thornton Tomasetti London office, a practice established with an ethos of providing creative engineering solutions and delivery on all projects.

Les began his career with Oscar Faber and Partners as a technician in 1976 working on a variety of large commercial, industrial and residential projects. He joined Anthony Hunt Associates in London in 1984, where as project engineer worked on Schlumberger Cambridge Research with Michael Hopkins Architects and the London Pease Pagoda in Battersea Park. In 1986 he was made an associate of the practice with responsibilities for a team within the London office, working on The Sackler Galleries with Foster + Partners and Wimbledon Theatre with RHWL. He later moved to the Sheffield office as senior associate and was responsible for a large team of engineers and technicians working on a variety of projects including Sheringham Leisure Pool with Alsop & Lyall and the McAlpine Stadium with HOK.

In 1993 he became a founding partner in Stephen Morley Partnership. His depth of experience and management skills helped to rapidly develop this practice, successfully handling a variety of prestigious projects including new student accommodation for St Catherine’s College Oxford with Hodder Associates and a new stadium for Chelsea Football Club with HOK.

He rejoined Anthony Hunt Associates in 1997 as director of the London office. His credits include a new terminal for Madrid Airport with Richard Rogers Partnership, Playfair Project in Edinburgh with John Miller and Partners, The Centre for Contemporary Arts in Rome with Zaha Hadid and the second phase of student accommodation for St Catherine’s College Oxford with Hodder Associates.

Les holds s B’Tec Higher Certificate, Civil Engineering, and is an incorporated engineer and associate member of the Institution of Structural Engineers in the U.K.
