Albert Chen, P.E., S.E.

Vice President

Mr. Albert Chen joined Thornton Tomasetti in 2007 with more than 25 years of experience in the design of more than 20 million square feet of structures, including mixed-use projects retail, parking structures, hospitals, hotels, and industrial facilities in the United States and internationally. Many of his projects have been built in high seismic zones and other work includes the seismic retrofit for existing buildings.

His recent work includes project management for the Transbay Transit Center in San Francisco and the National Palace Museum in Taiwan as well as QA/QC for the Shanghai Tower in Shanghai and the 151-story Incheon Tower in South Korea, the country’s tallest.

Albert is a licensed professional engineer in California, Washington, and Nevada, a licensed structural engineer in California and Nevada, and a licensed civil engineer in Nevada. He is a member of the Earthquake Engineering Research Institute, the California Preservation Foundation, the Structural Engineers Association of Southern California, the USC Architectural Guild and the Design-Build Institute of America, and is active on the Seismology Committee of SEAOSC, which is heavily involved in the development of U.S. seismic codes.

Albert holds a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from Chung Yuan University in Taiwan and a master’s degree in structural engineering from the University of Texas at Arlington.
