Dennis C.K. Poon, P.E.
Managing Principal
Throughout his 30+ years experience Mr. Dennis Poon has been responsible for the design and construction of super high-rise structures, mixed-use buildings, hotels, airports, arenas and residential buildings worldwide. High on the list of his accomplishments is the role he played in leading the structural engineering team for the design of the Taipei 101 in Taiwan (currently the tallest building in the world). Other notable projects include the New York City World Financial Center, the 66-story high-rise mixed-use Plaza 66 in Shanghai, in Chicago the Board of Trade Tower and O’Hare International Airport, and in Las Vegas the 5+ million SF MGM CityCenter hotel, casino and convention center complex. Currently, Dennis is working on several 100+ story towers, such as the Shanghai Tower and Ping An Insurance Projects in China as well as the 601-meter 151 Incheon twin towers in South Korea, and several high-rise projects in the Middle East. He has extensive expertise on seismic design and performance-based design with complex mixed-use structures worldwide.
In addition to his responsibilities as managing principal of the firm, Dennis is in charge of the firm’s international operation with branch offices in Hong Kong and Shanghai. He has lectured at universities worldwide including the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Delft Technical University in the Netherlands, the New Jersey Institute of Technology and Rutgers University. He has received numerous prestigious awards including the ACEC National Grand Award for the design of Taipei 101. He holds a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from the University of Texas at El Paso and a master’s degree in civil engineering from Columbia University.
