Over 200 industry colleagues joined us Jan. 8 at our 40 Wall Street office as Thornton Tomasetti co-hosted the Architectural League of New York’s inaugural First Friday event of 2016. The First Friday series is an opportunity for league members and their guests to learn more about a firm, its approach to design, and recent and upcoming projects. To give visitors a glimpse of the range of work we do, the party featured videos about our specialized lines of service, displays of our 10 main practice areas, a demonstration of some of our 3D printing capabilities, and virtual reality tours of such notable projects as Chicago’s Wrigley Field stadium and the Washington, D.C. Marriott Marquis.
The mood of the party was relaxed and social. “Thornton Tomasetti’s two floors at 40 Wall were teeming with vibrant young professionals genuinely interested in engaging socially,” Principal Albert DiBernardo said. “They were smart, inquisitive and fun to be with. I was one of the last to leave, so it seemed. It was an enjoyable evening.” As fun as it was to host such a great group of AE professionals, a lot of work went on behind the scenes. “ It was great to have so many volunteers pitch in to pull this event together,” Vice President and Business Development Manager Marcy Stanley, one of the event’s main organizers, said. “Althea Griffiths and I got the pieces together, but teamwork made it all happen! Thanks so much to everyone who helped make this the best First Friday ever!”
