Penn State (Almost) Game Ready

Pennsylvania State is gearing up for its first home game on Saturday, August 30, with Phase 1 construction at Beaver Stadium coming to a close. Phase 1 construction began in early January with the implosion of the West press tower. It’s been a sprint since then to complete the Phase 1 structure, which includes the mechanical level, main concourse and club level.
Temporary seating and temporary lighting are supported by the club level structure to maintain a minimum seat count of 100,000 seats (Penn State has 99,000 season ticket holders). East side renovations included consolidation of existing braced frames, major foundation retrofits and the addition of corner stair towers in preparation for a widened concourse coming next year.
The West stadium is still pretty bare bones, featuring only critical life safety elements: exposed structure, precast stairs, temporary lighting, fencing and guardrails. Following this season, the temporary seating will be removed, and Phase 2 will be constructed continuing up to the Upper Bowl, approximately 200 feet above grade. Phase 3 will follow in 2027 with demolition and replacement of the remaining lower bowl.
