Engineers Available For Commentary As Climate Prediction Center Forecasts Above Normal Hurricane Season

What: The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s Climate Prediction Center has forecast an above normal 2011 hurricane season with 12 to 18 named storms projected to whip across the Atlantic basin during the six month period from June 1 through December 1, 2011 and six to 10 hurricanes with winds 74 mph and greater expected. In a normal year, the region expects 5 to 7 such storms.

When: June 1 through December 1, 2011.

Where: Atlantic and Gulf State regions.
