Thornton Tomasetti's Dziugas Reneckis to Present Poster Session at 15th World Conference on Earthquake Engineering in Portugal

What: Thornton Tomasetti’s Džiugas Reneckis, Ph.D., P.E., will present a poster session on the “Seismic Design of Anchored Brick Veneer” at the 15th World Conference on Earthquake Engineering. Dr. Reneckis was presented with the 2011 Outstanding Ph.D. Dissertation Award by the Masonry Society’s Research Committee for his work on this topic.

Dr. Reneckis’ work indicates that the global seismic performance of these wall systems is closely related to the local performance of the connections. His research has led to code changes and recommendations for existing brick veneer wall retrofitting.

Who: Džiugas Reneckis, Ph.D., P.E., a project engineer in the firm’s London office, joined Thornton Tomasetti in 2006. A member of the firm’s Building Skin practice, he specializes in building facade engineering. Dr. Reneckis plays an essential role in structural investigations, condition assessments, façade examinations and renovation projects. He also assists in repair design of building material and building envelope problems, including masonry, roofing and waterproofing.

Why: The 15th World Conference on Earthquake Engineering brings together researchers, engineers and other specialists in order to share the latest results of research and discuss earthquake engineering from many perspectives. Topics include seismology, structural engineering, lifeline systems and seismic risk assessment, as well as social and economic issues.
