Daniel Marquardt Of Thornton Tomasetti Appointed Chairman Of Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation

Thornton Tomasetti, the international engineering firm with practices in structural engineering and building performance, announced Daniel Marquardt, a managing principal, has been named the new chairman of the Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation. Mr. Marquardt succeeds Frederick P. Stratton Jr. who has held the post since 2008.
The Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation is a leading global multidisciplinary center for education, scholarship, debate and research committed to the place of architecture and the arts in enriching the quality and dignity of life.

In his new role, Mr. Marquardt will be overseeing an extraordinary exhibition of Frank Lloyd Wright’s work at the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum. The exhibition celebrates the 50th anniversary of Wright’s most iconic building and will examine Wright’s vision for harmonious living through inventive spatial constructions designed to stimulate social engagement and integration with the natural world. The exhibition, titled Frank Lloyd Wright: From Within Outward, will feature more than 50 of Wright’s projects and will be on view at the museum from May 15 through August 23, 2009.
“I am honored to take the reigns as chairman at such an important time for the Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation,” said Mr. Marquardt, who is based in Chicago. “It’s been a privilege to be a part of this remarkable organization. I look forward to building on its significant achievements and shaping the future of the Foundation.”
Mr. Marquardt served on the Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation’s Board of Trustees for two years. He is also a trustee of Taliesin Preservation Inc., an organization dedicated to preserving Wright’s home in Spring Green, Wisconsin. In addition, Mr. Marquardt’s professional activities include membership in the Design Build Institute of America, League of Historic American Theatres, National Society of Professional Engineers and Structural Engineers Association of Illinois.
