What: “Tall and Supertall Buildings: Structure and Skin Performance” will be a feature topic at the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat, at the Renaissance Hotel & Convention Centre, Mumbai, February 3 – 5. The talk, by Joe Burns, managing principal for Thornton Tomasetti, will focus on the challenges and opportunities in designing the structure and skin of high performing tall buildings. Examples from different regions highlight responses to wind effects, building movements and tolerances. Building information modeling is a new tool to assist in evaluating performance and sustainability, as well as assist in constructability.

When: Friday, February 5, 2010, Tack 17 (in the afternoon).

Where: Renaissance Hotel & Convention Centre, Mumbai.

Who: Joe Burns, Managing Principal, Thornton Tomasetti. Also attending the conference will be principals Anjana Kadakia, Hi Sun Choi and Kyle Krall, and Senior Project Engineer Misam Imam.
