What: Dennis Poon, managing principal of Thornton Tomasetti, the international engineering firm with practices in building structure, building skin and building performance, will be a featured speaker at The 3rd Annual Ultra High-rise Building Summit in Shanghai. Mr. Poon will present a seminar entitled “Challenges of Structural Design for Mixed-Use Ultra High-rise Buildings.” He is currently overseeing the structural engineering of Shanghai Tower, which is the tallest building in China, designed by Gensler.

The conference will explore the most advanced technologies and innovative materials in the design and construction of ultra high-rise buildings and will also examine some of the problems encountered such as high energy consumption, fire safety and high operation costs. Leaders in the industry will discuss how to build more sustainable skyscrapers and make them the model for future architecture. Additional hot topics highlighted at the conference include:
