Kyle Krall Honored With 2010 World-Class Engineer Alumni Award By Penn State University

(New York – April 27, 2010) – Kyle Krall, P.E., principal and manager of Thornton Tomasetti’s Abu Dhabi and Dubai offices, will be honored by Penn State University’s College of Engineering with the 2010 World-Class Engineer Alumni Award on April 21st at State College, Pennsylvania.
The award was established by the Advisory Board of The Leonhard Center for Enhancement of Engineering Education in 2005 to acknowledge and honor the achievements of Penn State engineering graduates in the early to middle years of their careers. Award recipients visit Penn State’s campus to provide a seminar, meet with faculty members and student groups, and attend classes. In addition, winners of the award provide inspiration and serve as role models for current engineering students enrolled at the university.

His professional journey will inspire them to pursue the challenging opportunities that will allow them to become truly world-class engineers.” said Dr.Thomas Litzinger, Director of The Leonhard Center for the Enhancement of Engineering Education and Professor of Mechanical Engineering at Penn State University.
Mr. Krall graduated with a bachelor’s degree in architectural engineering from Pennsylvania State University in 1987. He currently manages Thornton Tomasetti’s Abu Dhabi and Dubai offices. Mr. Krall has more than 22 years of structural engineering experience in the design of commercial, sports, residential and mixed-use buildings and has extensive experience in the design of both steel and concrete structures. His recent work on prominent projects throughout the U.S. and Middle East includes The New York Times Building in New York City; RBS Americas Headquarters Building in Stamford, Conn.; and the Abu Dhabi Financial Centre peer review and site observation. Other noteworthy projects include San Francisco’s AT&T Park baseball stadium; the expansion of Penn State’s Beaver Stadium; and Nuova Sede della Regione Lombardia, the headquarters for the Lombardi Regional Government, Milan, Italy.
Mr. Krall earned a master’s degree in civil engineering from Columbia University, where he served as an adjunct assistant professor at Columbia University’s Graduate School of Architecture, Planning and Preservation for a decade. He coauthored numerous technical papers and lectured at engineering conferences in the United States and the United Arab Emirates. In addition, he has been an active member of the Structural Engineers Association of New York since 2001 and served as president-elect from 2003-2004 and the president from 2004-2005.
