Los Angeles Unified School District, New Schools
Los Angeles, Calif.

We have completed 100% CDs for five new schools for the Los Angeles Unified School District. The District wanted to implement the use of design in Revit for all new projects. Many of the architects involved selected Thornton Tomasetti based on our early adoption of Revit, as well as our history of success with the LAUSD and our demonstrated expertise with designing schools. The five schools are: the 89,700-SF Valley Region K-8 Span School No. 1, designed by the IBI Group; the 63,000-SF South Region Elementary School No. 11, designed by Langdon Wilson Architecture Planning Interiors; the 79,000-SF South Region Elementary School No. 12, designed by MVE Institutional; the 58,000-SF Central Region Elementary School (CRES) No. 21, which will seek LEED certification, designed by gkkworks; and the 52,000-SF CRES No. 22, designed by Osborn. The schools will be completed in 2011.
