ONEOK Field
Tulsa, Okla.
The Tulsa Drillers played to a full house of 8,665 last week on the opening night of ONEOK Field. Thornton Tomasetti provided structural design for the facility, which was ready for use just 14 months after breaking ground. Located between the Greenwood and Brady art and entertainment districts in downtown Tulsa, the field features 6,500 seats, 30 suites, a conference center and with accommodations such as a party area for 2,500 visitors, it can serve as a multi-event facility. The various shades of brick that were used throughout and the stadium’s tower covered in black zinc panels reflect Tulsa’s natural qualities and history of oil production. A total of 21 square cast medallions depicting the history of baseball and the city adorn the field’s façade and complement the city’s art deco architecture. The project team included Populous and Manhattan Construction.
