El Camino Hospital Replacement
Mountain View, Calif.
Construction is 95 percent complete on the El Camino Hospital Replacement, for which we are providing structural engineering services for the design architect and architect of record KMD Architects. Located on a 41-acre campus in Silicon Valley, the project includes a new 450,000-SF hospital tower housing 248 beds, a 10,000-SF expansion to the central plant with interconnecting utility tunnels, a remodeling of the existing North Addition and a 600 car parking structure. It will replace the existing hospital to achieve Senate Bill 1953 compliance, passed in 1994 after the Northridge earthquake, which requires hospitals to comply with three seismic safety deadlines. Working around the existing open hospital was a challenge. Occupancy is estimated for November 2009.
