One Indiana Square, Midwest Construction 2010 Award of Merit
Indianapolis, Ind.

The façade overclad of One Indiana Square has been selected for Midwest Construction magazine’s 2010 Award of Merit. Thornton Tomasetti was contacted to provide emergency response and stabilization for the 36-story building and to perform interim repairs after severe weather damaged the façade in April 2006. After the response and stabilization phase, we were retained to provide engineering design and consulting services for the superstructure and curtain wall elements associated with the new curtain wall overclad scheme. The fast-track, design-build effort involved 3-D analysis of the building’s superstructure and foundations, wind tunnel testing for structural and curtain wall loads, the use of Revit to generate the construction documents and the consideration of a liquid tuned mass damper or other damping system. Gensler is the architect for the overclad. The general contractor is F. A. Wilhelm Construction. The project is under construction.
