Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Center Expansion
Wan Chai, Hong Kong

Roof trusses were recently erected at the 47,000-square-meter (506,000-SF) Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Center, where a major expansion is underway. Designed by architect Wong and Ouyang (HK), the extension features 81-meter-long roof trusses that support three convention floors by hangers. Each hanger comprises four large, rolled wide-flange column sections, helping make the center the longest-span commercial structure in Hong Kong. Thornton Tomasetti is providing sub-consulting services to Wong and Ouyang (Civil-Structural Engineering), including construction feasibility and detailed connection design.
