Doosan We’ve the Zenith
Busan, Korea
Construction recently began on Doosan We’ve the Zenith, a mixed-use development that will include an 80-story, 300-meter (984-foot) tower, the centerpiece of a 573,000 square-meter (6.1-million-SF) complex on the waterfront of Busan, South Korea. It will be the tallest reinforced concrete residential tower in Asia. To withstand high winds in a typhoon-prone region, Thornton Tomasetti designed a butterfly-shaped core wall that minimizes necessary material while maximizing building stiffness. The smooth, rounded face of the towers also improves stability, making them more aerodynamic and increasing wind resistance. The architect is DeStefano and Partners, Ltd., with Thornton Tomasetti providing design development.
