Indoor Equestrian Event Arena
Lexington, Ky.
The roof was recently topped out for the 166,000-SF Indoor Equestrian Event Arena, a multi-purpose space owned by Kentucky Horse Park that will accommodate equestrian events, including the World Equestrian Games in 2010, concerts, trade shows and conventions. Thornton Tomasetti used shallow shop fabricated, long-span trusses with arched bottom chords to support the structure’s unique roof, which spans 200 feet in each direction. The architects for the 5,625-seat arena are 360 Architecture and GBBN, with Thornton Tomasetti providing structural engineering.
