Steel was recently topped out for the Johns Hopkins Hospital New Clinical Building, one of the country’s largest single-facility healthcare projects currently under construction. The 1.6-mllion-SF project comprises two towers, one housing the Children’s Center and the other dedicated to adult cardiovascular and critical care. Perkins+Will is the architect, with Thornton Tomasetti providing structural engineering services. Diverse project demands include large medical equipment loads, intricate mechanical and electrical systems, and the need to control vibrations.
