Memphis International Airport Seismic Risk Assessment
Memphis, Tenn.

We are performing a seismic risk assessment for Memphis International Airport. An important local landmark, the airport is located only 40 miles from the New Madrid fault zone, which has been responsible for some of the largest earthquakes in North America. The expected performance of the terminal in a future earthquake is being evaluated as part of an overall master planning study being led by Jacobs Consultancy. Thornton Tomasetti’s scope includes assessing the seismic risk for four runways, five bridges, navigational aids, jet fuel tanks and buried pipelines.
