Stanford Linear Accelerator Hatch 4, 5, & 6
Menlo Park, Calif.

Last month we finished 100% CDs for DGA for the Stanford Linear Accelerator addition of access hatches into tunnels housing the particle beam at this high-energy physics research facility. The project involves construction of three hatches and support rooms within an existing underground cavern and includes an approximately 150 foot-long, 37 foot-wide, 15 foot-tall structural steel platform. Each hatch requires structural support for piping, HVAC and electrical equipment, cable trays and bridge cranes. Working closely with the client group and design team, we developed cost-effective solutions that maximized the space inside the FEH Hatches below the platform while providing enhanced vibration performance for future laser labs located above. Construction is scheduled for completion in December 2009.
