Kentucky Horse Park – Indoor Equestrian Event Arena

The Indoor Equestrian Event Arena, for which we were the structural engineer, opened recently. The 166,000-SF arena, designed by 360 Architecture and GBBN, features a 135-foot-by-300-foot oval floor (equal to one football field) covered by a 200-foot long-span roof. It has 5,700 stadium seats, nine suites with 200 suite seats, 20,000 square feet of exhibitor space, six concession areas, a warm-up barn and 568 parking spaces. Supertrusses on each side feature a segmented bottom chord to improve sightlines for the upper bowl and suites. The multi-purpose facility, with a rigging capacity of 120,000 pounds, can accommodate events, such as concerts, trade shows and conventions.
