Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) Headquarters Facility
Fort Meade, Md.
The Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) Headquarters Facility topped out last month at approximately 4,000 tons of steel. We are providing structural design for RTKL on this design-build project, with an award-to-open schedule of just 29 months. The complex, comprising six interconnected buildings totaling 1.1 million SF, will include offices, sensitive compartmented information facility rooms, laboratories, assembly space and a broadcast studio. It will have raised access flooring throughout and a tunnel that links two of the buildings. It was designed to incorporate antiterrorism/force protection provisions stipulated by Department of Defense Unified Facilities Code requirements. The design includes criteria for LEED Silver certification. We also provided connection design and detailing services under a separate contract with the steel fabricator. The facility is scheduled to be completed in 2011.
