The transition to chief quality assurance officer is a natural one for Carol, who has served as a leader in the firm’s standards and quality assurance/quality control committees.

As chief quality assurance officer, Carol Post oversees the development and implementation of the firm’s standards and quality assurance/quality control programs. Reporting to the board of directors, she works to maintain and improve QAQC protocols so that the firm’s broad, innovative work continues to be a model for collaborative excellence. She also interfaces with industry professionals and organizations to ensure that Thornton Tomasetti’s program meets or exceeds industry established best practices.

Diverse Technical Background
Carol joined Thornton Tomasetti in 1997 and has more than 30 years of structural engineering experience. Her portfolio includes healthcare, higher education, residential, commercial and cultural facilities. She served as leader of the Higher Education market sector for the firm and has engineered award-winning structures for some of the most notable campuses in the Midwest, including Northwestern University and the University of Chicago.

Giving Back to the Profession
Carol has held visiting lecturer positions at Purdue University, Illinois Institute of Technology and University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and was an adjunct professor at Northwestern University for 13 years. She is highly active in many professional organizations and frequently speaks at industry conferences and events to share lessons learned.

Outside of Work
Adept at juggling multiple activities, Carol enjoys spending free time – when not busy with family activities that include her three sons – swimming, biking and in yoga and salsa aerobics classes. She makes it a point to see either a live musical or theatrical performance every month.
