Having lived in five countries and worked in more than a dozen, I have been lucky, as an HR person, to learn the many ways we win and deliver projects. This has helped me understand how HR can play a key role in achieving business goals.

As leader of our human resources team, Dan Stauthamer champions Thornton Tomasetti’s culture and pursuit of its purpose, values and long-term goals. His focus is to cultivate innovation and knowledge sharing, diversity in background and outlook, and to provide borderless careers. Dan partners with senior leaders to translate our business plans into a people strategy tuned to accelerate business results.

Global Mindset
Dan has 15-plus years of international and U.S.-based experience in engineering, procurement and construction. He previously served as a divisional HR leader overseeing parts of North and South America and prior to that served as HR director for the Middle East, Africa and Asia Pacific, overseeing all aspects of human resources. He is also a change management expert, leading HR through M&A integration and the establishment of new offices. He has led the start-up and staffing of international mega-projects, such as those related to the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar and relocation of the U.S. military garrison in Yongsan, South Korea.

Outside of Work
Dan grew up in Denver, Colorado, and enjoys spending time in the Rocky Mountains skiing with his son. He enjoys bicycling to our New York office from his home in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. A few years ago, Dan picked up mountain biking. His most rewarding cycling activity to date was a 4-day mountain bike race in Sri Lanka called “Rumble in the Jungle” where he raised funds for a cancer charity.
