Darren’s team counts three national laboratories, several government agencies and public and private sector firms among its clients.

Darren brings more than 30 years of analysis experience to the Weidlinger Applied Science practice and is responsible for the firm’s Albuquerque office, which he established in 2004. He is an expert in 3D nonlinear finite-element analysis and is skilled in the use of the firm’s proprietary software, NLFLEX, to perform two and three dimensional finite element analysis of structures and structural components.

Specialist in Blast Analysis
Darren is responsible for evaluating the response of structures subjected to impact, collapse, explosive effects and thermal/fire loading. He has extensive experience validating both fast running modules and high fidelity physics-based software as part of testing programs for both computational structural dynamics (CSD), computational fluid dynamics (CFD) and coupled CFD/CFD codes. His work includes nuclear, conventional, terrorist and accidental explosive events on hardened and conventional structures. He has supported numerous design and retrofit projects involving infrastructure and conventional and historic buildings, with advanced structural, airblast and coupled analyses of terrorist attacks.

Outside of Work
Darren enjoys many outdoor activities that are so abundant in New Mexico, including camping, hiking and photography. He is also involved with the Boy Scouts of America, as a troop committee member.
