Krista Raines is a senior member of the Sustainability practice and leads the building analytics team in the San Francisco office. She draws from an extensive background in sustainable design and project and construction management to develop high-performance solutions that take into account such factors as climate, design constraints, schedule and budget. Krista’s technical skill set includes energy, carbon, thermal, daylight and wind modeling, renewable energy analysis and building water calculation.

Wide-Ranging Expertise
During her career, Krista has amassed a large portfolio of work in such sectors as commercial, transportation, higher education, residential, hospitality and retail as well as master planning on five continents. Her project credits include the master plan for San Francisco’s 393-acre manmade Treasure Island and New York City’s Hudson Yards, the Joan and Sanford I. Weill Neurosciences Building at University of California San Francisco and Lotte World Tower in Seoul, South Korea.

Whether it’s a single-tenant space or an entire community, Krista works with key stakeholders to develop creative solutions that are appropriate for a project’s scale. She considers the bigger picture, examining how a project fits into its surroundings and its overall impact. Krista employs a holistic approach, with a focus on energy, water and waste systems and the synergies between them to optimize performance and improve occupant health and comfort.

Outside of Work
Krista’s passion for design extends beyond the workday. Her hobbies include home improvement and remodeling projects and creating small-scale performance art spaces. She also enjoys spending time outdoors. During the winter, she heads to Lake Tahoe on weekends for snowboarding. In the warmer months, Krista goes hiking and road cycling and plays golf with family and friends.
