One of John’s career highlights is serving as the co-structural project manager for the 72,000-seat Minnesota Multipurpose Stadium, leading the long-span roof design.

John Aniol has more than 27 years of award-winning experience in structural engineering project management and design for buildings totaling more than 25.8 million square feet and with a construction value of more than $4.2 billion. His diverse portfolio includes more than 13 sports facilities, long-span retractable roof structures and tensile membrane cable roof structures. An array of project types rounds out his experience, including airport terminals, hospitals, performing arts centers, research and development facilities, corporate campuses, mid-rise office buildings, hotels, libraries, institutional and federal buildings, mixed-use projects and parking structures nationwide.

Leadership in Texas and the Southwest
John joined Thornton Tomasetti in 2010 as a regional leader of the Structural Engineering practice and co-chair of the Sports market sector Standards group. He is responsible for expanding the firm’s Texas operations and developing opportunities to serve clients, and also directs project teams. His leadership and technical skills have been key to some of the region’s most challenging and monumental projects such as the Amon Carter Stadium redevelopment at Texas Christian University in Austin; and the 80,000-seat Dallas Cowboys Stadium, Terminal D at Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport and the George W. Bush Presidential Center, all in Dallas. His international portfolio includes significant projects in the UK, the U.S. Virgin Islands and the Middle East.

Professional Contributions
John has published widely, including articles in Civil Engineering, Modern Steel Construction, PanStadia, Structural Engineer and Structures. He participates in conferences and shares his extensive experience through lectures and presentations, as well as serving on the CASE Toolkit Committee of the American Council of Engineering Companies.

Outside of Work
John’s family, including his wife Robyn and three boys between the ages of 12 and 15 (who all play lacrosse) keeps him busy during his free time. He also enjoys golf, skeet shooting and snow skiing.
