The most exciting part of a project for Bob is the detective work: determining a failure’s root cause and coming up with workable, elegant solutions.

Robert Rodin joined Thornton Tomasetti in 2014 with more than 30 years of experience in forensic architecture, award-winning design for new buildings, and the rehabilitation, reuse and expansion of existing structures. He supports the firm’s Property Loss Consulting, Renewal and Forensics practices, performing investigative work, design for repairs, litigation support and providing expert witness services.

Building-Envelope Expertise
For the past 20 years, Bob has specialized in investigating building envelope failures; his expertise lies in roofing, waterproofing, façades, and related components and assemblies. He has consulted for attorneys, building owners and managers, engineers and other architects as a building envelope peer reviewer for performance, function, economy, constructability, serviceability and life cycle costs. This work has included preparation of graphic details and technical specifications from the conceptual and schematic design phases through to design development and construction documents.

Outside of Work
Bob enjoys spending time with family and friends and is an avid sailor and outdoorsman. When he’s indoors, he pursues such hobbies as collecting fountain pens and writing. He is the author of a published novel and several magazine articles.
