Decades of Award-Winning Work
Prior to joining Thornton Tomasetti, Bob worked at Skidmore, Owings & Merrill LLP for more than two decades, designing and managing award-winning high-rise, supertall and other complex projects around the world, including Exchange House at Broadgate in London, Hotel Arts at Vila Olimpica in Barcelona, Guggenheim Museum Bilbao in Spain, and Trump International Hotel and Tower in Chicago, the tallest all-concrete building in North America.
Technical Leadership and Contributions
As practice leader of Structural Engineering, Bob’s responsibilities include technical involvement in all phases of projects from concept design through construction. His expertise spans commercial, hospitality, performing arts and residential projects.
He actively shares his knowledge through lectures and numerous publications detailing innovations in building materials, structural engineering and system design. His writing has been recognized by trade associations including the American Society of Civil Engineers, the National Council of Structural Engineers Associations and The Institution of Structural Engineers in the United Kingdom.
Outside of Work
Bob has been an avid golfer since the age of 11 and continues to play on a regular basis with his oldest son, Dylan, who now routinely beats his father. He enjoys reading and collecting classical literature and books on world history.
