“Memento audere semper” (Remember to dare always) is Sergio’s motto — and not only for engineering.

Sergio De Gaetano is the global leader of the Façade Engineering practice with nearly 20 years of international experience and extensive working knowledge of complex façades and roof systems.

Sergio’s most recent façade design credits include Sky SOHO in Shanghai, an iconic mixed-use development with Zaha Hadid Architects; KOC Art Gallery in Istanbul with Grimshaw; and Land Securities’ Nova, a £760M transformative development of Victoria Circle in London. Sharing His Expertise
He has lectured widely in Europe and is a regular speaker at prestigious international conferences, including Glass Performance Days in Finland and symposia of the International Association for Bridge and Structural Engineering (IABSE). Sergio is a Fellow and active member of the Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers’ (CIBSE) Society of Façade Engineering.

Outside of Work
More recently, Sergio spends most of his time with family, raising his two children. Sergio’s interests include tennis and football (soccer). He also enjoys playing his favorite electric guitars – a Stratocaster and a Les Paul – and writing songs. One of his songs with his band Alchimia, ‘Regina del Lampo’, is recorded here:

• Façade engineering
• Façade structural analysis and thermal modeling
• Innovative and custom-made envelopes
• Investigation of existing façades and forensics
• Bomb-blast enhancements for façades and cladding systems
