600 NE 34th Street
Located on the shores of Biscayne Bay in Edgewater, this 40-story residential tower adds a new dimension to Miami’s evolving skyline.
Overview
Located on the shores of Biscayne Bay in Edgewater, 600 NE 34th Street adds another dimension to Miami’s evolving skyline. Standing at over 460 feet tall, the 40-story tower adds nearly 500,000 square feet of vertical space to the vibrant, rapidly evolving neighborhood.
We provided structural engineering services to Stantec for the new 200-unit residential tower occupying approximately one acre of waterfront space. Designed to maximize the activation of the shoreline, the project includes a pedestrian plaza and ground-floor restaurant space to draw the public from the street to the water.
Highlights
- The project scope features two amenity floor spaces, including a pool deck facing the bay at the fifth floor and a ninth-floor landscaped terrace with a club house offering shared working space with views towards the city.
- It also includes a nine-level above-ground parking garage with a car elevator and valet functionality and rooftop mechanical space.
- Our team adapted the lateral system to maximize residential unit layouts, overcoming challenges with wind pressure caused from vortex shading that measured higher than code wind allowances, as well as optimized the shear wall layout.
