30 N. Michigan Avenue
Constructed in 1913, this 20-story building in the Michigan Avenue Landmark District features glazed terra cotta façades.
Thornton Tomasetti provided peer review services for ongoing façade repairs to the terra cotta cladding. Using a swing-stage scaffold provided by the masonry contractor, we conducted a detailed close-hand visual examination of representative portions of the building. We then reviewed the proposed repair methodology and details, and offered recommendations that included better defining the scope of repairs and obtaining competitive bids on the repair work to be performed.
