Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) Headquarters Facility
Thornton Tomasetti provided structural design for a $390 million design-build project, with an award-to-open schedule of just 29 months. The complex will provide an administrative headquarters facility with six inter-connected buildings totaling 1,070,000 square feet.
The project includes offices, Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility (SCIF) rooms, laboratories, assembly space and a broadcast studio. The campus also includes raised access flooring throughout and a tunnel that links two of the buildings.
The complex was designed to incorporate anti-terrorism/force protection provisions stipulated by Department of Defense Unified Facilities Code (UFC) requirements. The design also includes criteria for LEED Silver certification.
Thornton Tomasetti also provided connection design and detailing services, under a separate contract with the steel fabricator.
