Emeryville City Hall
This new two-story, 20,000-square-foot building includes administrative offices and multi-purpose areas. It features an innovative lateral-force-resisting system that reconciles the aesthetic requirements of an exposed structure with up-to-date special concentrically braced frame design and detailing procedures for ductile seismic response.
The seismic upgrade of the original three-story, 7,500-square-foot City Hall utilized center coring of the existing unreinforced masonry walls to provide strength with minimum impact on the existing finishes of the registered historic building.
