Thornton Tomasetti performed schematic design for a residential project that consists of two 16-story mixed-use buildings. Each has two levels of basement parking and mechanical space, retail space on levels one through three, and residential units on levels four through 14, with luxury duplex units on level 15. The site has not yet been selected for the project so assumptions were made for seismic design for site soil classification and ground accelerations in order to propose a lateral load resisting system. The structural system is dependent upon the finalized site location.
