In 2007, Thornton Tomasetti embarked on a peer review of structural, architectural, HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and fire sprinkler design plans for this mixed-use building in downtown Richmond, once a cigar factory. The low-rise building was renovated to feature luxury apartments, office space, commercial retail and restaurants—all within the same structure.
The principal challenge we faced was entering the review process in the final stages of the design phase when timing was critical. Despite the obstacles, we succeeded in delivering a comprehensive and timely review.
