Lincoln Financial Field, home of the NFL’s Philadelphia Eagles since 2003, has undergone a series of renovations to provide improved amenities including new HD video boards, Wi-Fi, and bridges connecting the upper concourse, and additional seating to accommodate nearly 70,000 fans.
Thornton Tomasetti provided structural engineering for renovations and improvements consisting of multiple component projects in and around the existing stadium structure. The project design added four levels of seating in the southwest corner, three levels with a canopy above the sponsor level at the northeast corner, and two levels of seating and additional floor framing in front of the existing “Eagles Nest.”
New scoreboards were added at the Headhouse and in the south end zone replacing the existing scoreboards in the same location. Field level modifications include a new Touchdown Club and a new enlarged Team Store. New escalators and elevators were installed in the Headhouse and the west side line structure.
Thornton Tomasetti also provided construction support services for the project in the form of a 3D TEKLA model with integrated steel connections for use by steel fabricator for mill order and generation of erection drawings and shop drawings.
