Martin Army Community Hospital
Thornton Tomasetti provided structural services for a design-build healthcare facility for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
The 745,000-square-foot structure will house a 70-bed replacement hospital, a grand concourse and two clinics in a separate wing. Several additional support structures include a 20,000-square-foot central energy plant, an ambulance garage, hazardous materials building, telecommunications building and a storm-water management structure. The project is being designed to satisfy LEED Silver criteria.
Our engineers helped meet the aggressive project schedule by producing early structural construction documents, which allowed for early procurement of steel, and reviewing steel shop drawings in electronic format.
Thornton Tomasetti also provided construction support services, including design for steel connections and temporary wall bracing.
