Thornton Tomasetti is performing structural design for a 315,000-square-foot municipal complex to house General District, Circuit, and Juvenile/Domestic Relation Courts.

The project consists of two buildings of six and eight stories joined by an atrium, and a parking garage with a green roof. The complex also includes a two-story wing and an interstitial mezzanine that will connect to an existing facility. The project was designed to meet LEED certification criteria.

The complex is being built in two phases to allow uninterrupted court operations. The first building is slated for completion in 2013, when an outdated court facility will then be demolished to make room for the second building, which is scheduled to be complete in late 2015.
