NorthBay Regional Medical Center Replacement, Phase I
Phase I of the hospital’s expansion is a three-story, 60,000-square-foot structure designed and constructed on a fast-track basis. The facility accommodates new registration / admitting, emergency, radiology, labor / delivery, and critical care unit departments. In addition, a new detached central plant has the capability to provide capacity for future planned expansions.
The building’s eccentrically braced structural-steel frame provides desirable earthquake performance characteristics and economy. In addition to time saved, the structural components were bid $100,000 below all design-phase cost estimates.
