New York University – Third North Residence Hall
Thornton Tomasetti is providing an investigative evaluation and design engineering services for NYU on their 14 story, 210,000 square foot dormitory building located at 75 Third Avenue in New York City. The building is divided into three towers that are connected on the ground and cellar levels. The project includes the replacement of majority air-conditioning units with new high-efficiency PTAC and water-source Heat Pump units with remote DDC thermostats and occupancy sensors, upgrade of existing Vari-Vac system, and upgrade of existing lighting with new high-energy efficiency fixtures and controls. This is a two year project where construction will be phased over the two successive summers of 2009 and 2010 (during 15 week periods).
