The Edge is a mixed-use development complex on Williamsburg’s revitalized waterfront. The development spans two full city blocks and is one of the largest developments in New York City, comprising four different buildings, highlighted by a 30-story condominium concrete tower. The second 16-story building and two eight-story rental buildings complete the first phase of this complex. In all, the development includes more than 1,000 condominiums, 347 affordable rental apartments, 60,000 square feet of retail space, below-grade parking for 550 cars, and 34,000 square feet of an open space promenade that leads to a marina, which will be used by the public. The project incorporates many sustainable design strategies such as use of energy efficient windows and walls and green construction process where 84 percent of waste was recycled. The project has achieved LEED Gold certification.
