The Finance Centre comprises a 42-story tower, an adjacent eight-story podium structure and five stories of below-grade parking located in the Bonifacio Global City’s redevelopment area within the metro Manila district. The primary program is office, with retail and commercial space located on the first two levels.
Thornton Tomasetti was retained by the developer to provide structural engineering services using performance-based design principles. In close collaboration with the architect and developer, a cost-efficient structural system was developed for the all-concrete building that will provide a column-free office lease area with an 11.5-meter clear span between the core and the building’s perimeter.
A unique outrigger system utilizing sloping perimeter columns allows for interesting architecture and optimizes leasable space while providing additional tower stiffness for the control of wind drifts. The floor beams serve double duty. In addition to providing outrigger connections between the core and the perimeter columns, the beams provide gravity support for the long spanning floors between the core and the perimeter of the tower.
All building materials were selected based on availability in the local market.
