Thornton Tomasetti is assisting KPF Architects in the structural and façade engineering of its steel-glass design for a transparent roof and two-way cable-net glass walls that span between two buildings in Shanghai, China. We are performing third-order, nonlinear finite-element calculations to determine cable forces and deflections under wind loads. The diagram depicts third-order pre-stressed cable forces acting on a glazed façade under maximum wind loading.
