As structural engineer for super-tall buildings such as Taipei 101 (1,667 feet; 508 meters) and the Petronas Towers (1,482 feet; 452 meters), we have a deep expertise in managing the complexities of engineering, project management and teamwork necessary to reach unprecedented heights. We have developed innovative applications for both new and traditional materials, allowing engineers and architects to build higher while reducing pounds of steel per square foot, speeding construction and fabrication, and enhancing occupant comfort by minimizing building sway. Our experience also includes new high rises that have the added complexity of mixed use, and are in areas where prime considerations include security, engineering for high seismicity and wind, and accommodating challenging geotechnical conditions, such as loosely consolidated soils. Our leadership in the analysis of the 9/11 collapse of the World Trade Center Towers gives us first-hand knowledge of approaches for enhanced building safety and occupant survivability.
