Cultural & Institutional
Concert halls, theaters and opera houses require the teamwork and cooperation of engineers, architects, acousticians and theatrical consultants. Structural requirements specific to these projects include framing to maintain clear acoustical isolation joints, use of structure for acoustic mass in walls, roofs and floors, rigging grids to suspend flies and operable ceilings, construction and support of massive reverberation chambers, matching seating slab geometry to match sight line requirements and framing stiffness to satisfy viewer comfort criteria. Our experience designing new facilities and renovating historic ones enables us to address all these issues as a proactive member of the design team.
